CD-ROM based Sex Education
In this age where majority of the youth are taking sex as part of their lifestyle, sex education is very much needed. The advertisements, magazines, and the Internet are full of sex-related stuff presented either directly or indirectly. Movies which should be rated as PG-13 easily get a U rating; sexually suggestive photos get a glossy finish in magazines, and graphic sexual scenes are freely accessible on the Web. The young people are curious by nature. If they do not find suitable answers for their curiosity about sex, they might try to find it out themselves.
Given this, schools must consider using videos in CDs or DVDs to disseminate information regarding sex. This is to properly educate many people about the advantages and disadvantages of leading a sexually active lifestyle. Moreover, teachers and parents should partner to take responsibility in educating children on what is right and wrong about sex.
Meanwhile, when creating CD-ROM based sex education, contents should be carefully crafted so as to effectively teach kids about sex without going into embarrassing details. It should focus on the real purpose of sex, the risks or dangers of casual sex, unwanted pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, and healthy sex practices. At the same time, the sex education tool should not lead teenagers into thinking that sex is all about running the risk of acquitting bad diseases. It should educate in such a way that it teaches kids what is right and wrong.
Giving sex education at school level can help teens learn to respect the importance and sanctity of the topic. In addition, it will enable them to understand that sex, like careers, education, socialisation and the like, is just one part of life that should be done wisely at the right time.
